Pilgrimage itinerary:

Day 1: Assembly of participants, transfer to the airport departure at….., arrival to KUTAISI at ……, transfer to the hotel, check-in, dinner, overnight. www.erapalace.ge/gorgiladze/index.php

Day 2: Breakfast, sightseeing BATUMI, possibility of getting a cable-car to the hill above Batumi in order to admire the magnificent views, walk on the port quay: the famous Nino and Ali statue, Batumi’s Port Authority building and the Chacha Tower. Possibility to enter the Alphabetic Tower (additional fee) to see the city panorama. City sightseeing: Piazza Square, Europe Square with the statue of Medea and the Astronomical Clock, walk through the beautiful streets of the Old Town, visit to the square with the Neptune Fountain and the Drama Theatre, free time, walk on the pier, the fountain concerts, promenade and beach. Free time. Dinner in a restaurant. Return to the hotel, overnight.

Day 3: Breakfast, sightseeing the Botanical Garden, the main attraction of the city, located on the hills presenting a magnificent view of the sea and the famous tea fields. Drive to the Gonio Fortress where, according to the legend, the grave of one of the apostles – Saint Matthias is located. Return to the hotel, free time, sunbathing, dinner at the hotel, overnight.

Day 4: Breakfast, check-out, transfer to KUTAISI described in Greek mythology as the city of Ai in Kolchid. This place is related to the story of the sorceress Medea and the expedition of Jason and the Argonauts to obtain the golden fleece: lamb skin – a symbol of power. Drive to the famous UNESCO-listed Gelati Monastery, sightseeing the monastery, drive to the famous Motsameta Monastery, sightseeing the monastery. Day 5: Breakfast, drive to the OKATSE CANYON, jeep drive to the entrance of the canyon, walk on footbridges over the canyon (about 1-2 km one way), drive to the Georgian evening / traditional Georgian feast: during the dinner you can see how to prepare traditional Georgian dishes, for example, khachapuri from Imereti or churchule, moreover, you can learn how the process of wine production looks like in accordance to the 8000dth old tradition or how the production process of the famous vodka from grapes – chacha runs. During dinner (traditional Georgian bread, cold and hot appetizers, grilled dishes: e.g. skewers, chicken, coffee / tea, etc.), you can also drink wine (about 0.5 l per person). Return to the hotel, overnight.

Day 6: Breakfast, drive to TBILISI. On the way visit to MTSKHETA – the first capital and religious centre of Georgia inscribed on the UNESCO list: Jvari Monastery (7th century), Sweti Cchoweli Cathedral where the Robe of Christ was placed, “Georgian Wawel” with the graves of the Bagrationi kings. Free time in Mtskheta, where at stalls near the Sweti Cchoweli Cathedral you can buy wine, chacha, handicrafts including hats from various regions of the country or natural sweets from grapes – churczchele. It is necessary and a good tradition to bring regional spices from Georgia (Swanetii salt, khmeli suneli, saffron) and sauces (tkemali and ajika) which are great for many – not necessarily Georgian – dishes. Day 07 : Breakfast, sightseeing TBILISI, visit to churches and monasteries, among others Sioni Cathedral with the cross of Saint Nina – the most important relic of the Georgian church, the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, a cable-car drive up the hill with a beautiful view of the city, the statue of Mother of Georgia (Kartlis Deda), visit to the Narikala Fortress, the modern Georgian architecture, walk over the Bridge of Peace and the charming streets of the Old Town, Rustaveli Avenue – Rustaveli was a Georgian bard, visit to the synagogue and the mosque, visit to the famous sulphur baths. Dinner with wine (a glass of red / white wine) in a traditional restaurant with a show of Georgian folk dances and songs. Overnight.

Day 08: Breakfast, drive to the castle in ANANURI, drive by the famous Georgian Military Route to STEPANTSMINDA, jeep drive to the famous, located in the picturesque area Cminda Sameba Monastery, return to Tbilisi, dinner in the restaurant, overnight.

Day 09: Breakfast. Drive to Armenia (change of coach and guide). Drive through Dilijan, a place called the Armenian Switzerland. In DILIJAN resort, we will go for a walk along the historic street surrounded by buildings from the 19th century, you can visit an authentic ceramic workshop and a woodcarver’s studio there. Next, visit to a Seveanwank historic monastery built around 8th century, beautifully located on the peninsula cutting into the lake. Arrival in Yerevan. Dinner in a restaurant. Check-in. Day 10: Breakfast, sightseeing the capital – YEREVAN: the Mother Armenia monument, Parliament, Opera, Victory Park, Presidential Palace, the main market, the Blue Mosque and a walk around the main square – Republic Square, Alexander Tamanyan Statue, monumental Cascade steps. Dinner in a restaurant. Return to the hotel, overnight.

Day 11: Breakfast, drive to Echmiadzin – the centre of Armenian Christianity. Legend has it that the building site of the temple was chosen and pointed by Christ Himself. The name of the temple is translated as “the place of the descent of the Only-begotten Son.” Visit to the Geghard Monastery Complex (listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List) where the Longinus spear is stored – the spear that pierced the side of Christ. Sightseeing GARNI – an ancient city with a beautiful view of the Azat river valley. For dinner, we will go to a private house in Garni. The hosts will show us how to prepare Armenian flat bread “Lavash”, which we will then taste. After dinner, return to Yerevan. Return to the hotel, overnight.

Day 12: Breakfast, transfer to the airport, departure to …… at…… arrival at…… transfer to the pick-up point – end of the trip.
